Launched in 2017, Forca Goa Foundation is FC Goa’s not-for-profit, grassroots football programme.
I was asked to give a face to one of FC Goa’s largest initiatives which would focus of nurturing football at the grassroots level in India. The aim was to create an identity that spoke volumes of the pillars that this foundation is built on; football, empowerment and sustainability.
The three pillars of the foundation’s value are represented through three basic shapes and primary colours to speak of the stability and the rooted nature of this endeavour. The triangle represents empowerment since it is seen as the head of an arrow directed towards upliftment and growth. The colour red lends it energy and fuel. The yellow circle represents sustainability since the sustenance of our world comes from the bright yellow sun in the sky. The pentagon pays homage to the history of the football itself. Sometime in the 1960’s, black pentagons were added to the design of the ball to offer it visibility on the field and also gave it a good smooth curved shape. Thus, the blue pentagon represents the hope of the foundation to offer visibility and livelihood to football players from all walks of life. Also notice, that the three shapes are interlinked to show that the foundation sees football, sustainability and empowerment as interdependent and necessary functions to usher in the desired change.
